POWERBETON – GLUE FOR INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR USE

The POWERBETON adhesive mortar is a ready-made dry mix of mineral and organic binders, mineral fillers and modifying additives. After adding water and pasting, the product forms uniform adhesive mass designed for application in thin layer. It provides strong bond and initial strength very quickly. After setting, the bond is water- and frost-resistant. The mortar is intended for bonding STONES concrete tiles, wall and floor ceramic tiles (glaze and terracotta) in both indoor and outdoor applications. The product can be applied to regular concrete, lightweight aggregate concrete, cellular concrete, cement and cement-lime plasters, load-bearing lime plaster, gypsum plaster, gypsum-plaster boards and gypsum-fiber boards.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

All base surfaces should be well cured, sufficiently strong, stabilized, uniform and free from dust, fat, grease, anti-adhesive agents, residues of paints, etc.). Remove mortars and unstable coatings with insufficient bond strength. Indoor surfaces must be mature: at least 3 months for concrete and min. 4 weeks for plasters and cement jointless floors. Anhydride jointless floors should be ground and dusted. Level the surface with a surfacing mortar. Strongly and unevenly water-absorbable surfaces (such as cellular concrete or gypsum-plaster board) and dust-releasing surfaces should be primed with STONES G-5.

PRODUCT PREPARATION:

Add the powder slowly to a bucket containing a sufficient quantity of clean and cool water (3.5 liters per 15 kg of mortar). Mix the contents with a slow-running agitator to produce uniform and lump-free mass. Wait 5 minutes and mix again thoroughly. If you plan to use only a part of the product package content, mix the powder carefully to make it homogeneous as the components could get separated during handling. Do not re-hydrate hardened mortar or mix it with fresh product.

APPLICATION:

Apply the mortar in a thin layer to the target surface with a steel long float. Then, apply a thicker layer and sweep it with the toothed edge of the float positioned at a 45°-60° angle to the surface. Size the application area to your tile-laying performance to avoid exceeding the product’s maximum time of exposure to air. You can test the mortar with your finger: if you cannot sense the tack any more, the mortar is unusable and should be replaced. Lay tiles according to the instructions provided for the tiles. Do not wet the tiles before bonding! Lay the tile and press it down evenly to form a sure bond over the whole tile surface. Apply a thin, even coat of the mortar on the entire bottom surface of each tile to cover up all the grooves. The width of joints depends on the tile type. Clear the joints of excess mortar before it sets. Façades exposed to rain and snow should be covered until they can be impregnated and possibly joint filled. The product mixed with water is an alkaline material. Avoid contact of the product with your skin or eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of clean water and seek medical attention.
